“The Lower Grounds”

        PYRE: “Ignisssss!”

IGNIS looks up at the approaching PYRE and tenses up with their appearance. They snuff out their smoke and prepare to encounter PYRE. IGNIS “Pyre, how lovely to hear you again.”

PYRE “Ignis, I need—“

IGNIS turns away from PYRE in a dismissive manner, they have their arms crossed and their expression guarded. They know who they are talking to and preparing to defend against them. IGNIS “IF you need more money or something out of my pocket, I am fresh out.”

PYRE “What, I don’t need your money.”

IGNIS: “I don’t got any extra kidneys or organs either, I sold them just last week.”

PYRE “Ignis, I need help retrieving something.”

IGNIS bursts out laughing, leaning against the picture and beginning to notice the chill of the air. IGNIS “Oh my, the GREAT PYRE lost something? Haha, what a lovely day it is, I can almost feel some warmth.”

PYRE “I was coming into town, when a customs agent nabbed it.”

IGNIS “What is worth facing a customs agent for?”

PYRE “Ignis, I found something HUGE. It’s… ah.. Worth a fortune. I need to get it back.”

IGNIS “Ooo, the little pond scuttler finally got a big break. Boohoo, you lost it to customs then.”

PYRE “Ignis. It is something that could finally change this world.”

IGNIS “Oh my goodness, you finally lost it! Haha, Pyre, you of all people were the last person I thought to become an optimist. You have seen these depths yourself and now because you found some shiny piece of scrap metal you think you can change this!”

PYRE “Yes, yes! It sounds insane, but I swear this could chang—“

IGNIS “Do you even hear yourself! Nothing can change the system! The system makes sure we are in a constant rat race! Leaves us lowlifes in cramped rooms using our own body heat to not have our teeth chatter. You think somehow this confiscated piece of scrap metal is going to do anything other than put some money in your pocket, go knock you head on the way out for all I care. Your brain needs some rearranging.” IGNIS’s breath plumes out into the dingy air.

PYRE “Ignis, I don’t care if you believe me or not, I just need someone to help me. You know people who can help me. You know me. You don’t need to believe me or the things I believe in. I just need your help, one last time. For old times sake.”

IGNIS “Huh, fine. I will help you. I want to see the scrap that made Pyre a fool.”

PYRE “Ha ha, just help me plan a heist.”

IGNIS:“I know a few people. The system hates them but they do good work.” IGNIS leads PYRE into a back alley around the different shops and dilapidated buildings.

PYRE “The system get worse since I've been here?”

IGNIS: “Eh, if you count every miner being labeled an enemy of the state. People get arrested or disappear on every corner. Nothing new really.” PYRE grows silent and sad hearing the state of the lowgrounds. IGNIS continued leading them out into
