Chapter 5

“Avenue A23a”

IGNIS:"If you’re asking if we can steal something from under the nose of the city’s most paranoid bureaucrats, then yeah, we can do it. But it’s not going to be easy. If you need to ease your mind think about when we used to sneak into the high city as kids"

PYRE: "Do you think we can really pull this off?"

They approach a dilapidated building with a flickering neon sign that reads "The Wedge." At first it appears to be a run-down bar, but if you go into the back you can find a front for black-market tech and smuggled goods, run by a man known as Scorch. Inside, a handful of miners drink at the bar. Ignis waves hello and continues to a back door, making their way through a complex set of halls. It feels like a labyrinth. The two head deeper into the building, into a cluttered workshop where half-disassembled machines litter the room, and fragments of asteroids lay on tables ready to be opened. A figure steps from the shadows. It’s Flint, a tech specialist known for her ability to crack any security system.

FLINT "I hear you’re looking to steal something big."

PYRE "Something that could change the world. We need a way into The Day of the Purification Festival happening in the high city. The agents won’t let anything slip without a fight."

FLINT: "This'll disable their cameras for a few minutes, after that we’ll play a distraction message. In that time you rush onto the stage to grab the capsule. You’ll have to move fast we don’t have much time and I suspect the enforcers already knows about our plan." Pyre takes the device, he holds onto it as if his life depended on it.

FLINT "The Festival, huh? Well, that's a target you don’t want to play with. You’ll need a few things: distractions, inside knowledge, and a way to disable their security systems. Luckily I have someone who owes me one on their surveillance team."

PYRE (Rubs his head nervously) "Right. Simple." Flint hands Pyre a small device, sleek and palm-sized.

Pyre takes the device, he holds onto it as if his life depended on it.
