Chapter 2

“The Yoke”

A group of ragtag looking individuals are looking down at the object with wonder and confusion. A voice of comes from the object: GOLDEN EGG “Hello! I’m Paula, a representative from Earth. I am here to help you! <3”

PAULA (Golden Egg) “What are your names? Can you bring me to the local authorities? It looks like it is winter here!” It repeats the phrases in different languages and visual symbols on a small display on the face of the egg. (It has a cute tamagotchi vibe)

The people keep looking at it with confused curiosity. Finally someone walks up with a large sledge hammer and puts a large dent in Paula’s head. Another person sends a blow straight into the display, cracking the screen. Quickly the object is smashed apart, the various scrappers begin fighting over pieces of the object.

Cut back to PYRE, the sun is almost down and he is rushing to his snowmobile. He knows there will probably be nothing left, but he is going to ride to the crash site regardless. He arrives in total darkness besides the headlight of his snowmobile. The aftermath of a chaotic scene is apparent: a large black crater in the snow, footprints and turned up snow all around, bits and flakes of the object, torn clothes and a body face down in the snow. A few people remain picking up the smallest pieces still buried about, filling up bags that they hope to sell as scrap metal.

Pyre hits the dash of his snowmobile in frustration, but then has another idea.

Cut to Pyre pulling up stealthily outside the fenced off area of a warehouse. A group of people can be seen dragging in a large chunk of the object into the lit warehouse.

Pyre waits till they have left and hops the fence. He sneaks into the warehouse and finds the broken off chunk off Paula lying on a tarp. He stares at it confused and transfixed. Cut to him cutting the lock of the fence. He drags Paula out the gate, hitches it to his snowmobile and rides off. But he was spotted.

A chase ensues and in the midst of trying to evade the other scrappers Pyre falls down a ravine with his snowmobile. To the scrappers it appears fatal and they don’t see where he lands, so they decide not to go looking until daylight the next day.

Pyre awakes later that night deep in the snow amidst his smashed snowmobile and further smashed remnants of Paula. He is relieved he is alive but panicking. His only way out has been destroyed and his loot is in pieces. But then a glitched out voice comes from a piece of the remnants.

“There’s more.. th-the-there’s more…”

Pyre looks down upon something glowing inside it. A look of hope appears across his face.
